Do you know why I only eat roots?

No. No, why?

Because roots are important.

“La grande bellezza”, Sorrentino

But what are roots?

«They are the symbol of a bond with the past and with a unique and totally specific existence that is impossible to dissolve. They are the perpetual umbilical cord with the world that precedes and accompanies us»

«They are the support and the foothold of life»

«They are what nourishes and allows growth»

«They are the basis, the foundation»

«They are the principle, the principles, the non-written rules from which you can draw meaning, direction and value»

«They are what from which the existence springs, and they are the starting point to continue building it»

Chiron's Cave also has its roots. And these roots are nourished, these roots cast their gaze, these roots take shape. Slowly, constantly; openly, dynamically. It keeps it in its name: a cave and a mythical centaur. More specifically: the cave of Plato's Republic and the centaur Chiron. Because this myth and that centaur succeed, together, to express the most important principles underlying that existential project that in Chiron's Cave has its name.

A cave where men live in deceptions, illusions, sorrows and imprisonment, but from which they can always go out, illuminating themselves to reality and discovering "la grande bellezza" once concealed, to share it with those who still live in chains in the darkness of themselves . And a centaur that, wise through knowledge and practical art, is a model of moral greatness, a figure open to otherness, a conciliator; a physician and a master, a man and a beast, an immortal being who experiences suffering and chooses death.

A cave and a centaur in which awareness, wealth, solidarity, self-care and care of others are the primary elements. Authentic, fundamental roots.
